Make Money - Working From Home

Are you looking to work from your home? People everywhere are beginning to look at working from home as a serious option. There are many different ways that you can make money working from home, and this article will tell you three of those ways.

1. The first way you can make money working from your home is to sell a product that you have created. If you have a product you believe will be a hit, you should begin marketing it. You can market the product on the internet and through your community.

2. Another way you can earn money at home is being a secretary for a business. Work from home businesses need secretaries just like other businesses, and it is not practical for them to hire someone to come into their home. These businesses hire a secretary who works from their home and take phone calls and reply to e-mails.

3. Finally, you can work on the internet. There are thousands of ways you can make money on the internet from your home. You can be an article writer, writing fresh content for businesses websites; you can be an affiliate marketer, being paid a commission to sell a business's products; or, you can sell items around your house on eBay to clean your house and earn decent money.

Goals to Live by and Guild Your Life - Self Help Tips

The start of the new year is a traditional time to reflect on the accomplishments of the previous year and establish goals for the future. Our family started setting goals when our children were still in grade school. We sat at the kitchen table, each with a blank page of paper before us. We encouraged them to be creative and dream big. The variety of my families goals surprised me. Some of their goals were loftier than others. They included:

- Skydive

- Finish college

- Invent something

- Travel to all 50 U.S. states

- Be in the Guinness Book of World Records

My husband and I also set big goals for ourselves. After each session, I typed up our goals. I printed each of our goals separately and mounted them in picture frames posted outside our bedrooms where we would see them every day. Several times a year we take them down and review our progress. We note the completed goals, make modifications or add new goals. New pages are printed and inserted as the top sheet in the frame. We have been doing this for 15 years now. During the review process, we look back on previous year goals are tucked behind the glass. When we reflect on our progress, I'm delighted to see how many of these big goals we have accomplished. Wally Amos is one of the most inspiring and goal focused people I know. I had the chance to visit with him recently at his cookie Chip and Cookie store in Waikiki. Wally says there are no big goals. According to Wally, some goals just take longer to achieve than other goals. If you get an opportunity to visit Oahu, Hawaii, stop by to say hello to Wally and sample the cookies at his "Chip and Cookie" stores. Where do you what to be next year? Start off 2009 by setting goals for yourself.

Feng Shui - Missing Sector Missing Luck

Feng Shui is associated with formulas and concepts such as Eight Mansions Method, Eight Trigrams and Nine Palaces, amongst other things. Whilst Eight Mansion Method is a formula used by Feng Shui masters to categorize people into different groups according to their Trigram or Gua, the Eight Trigrams or Ba Gua can give a lot of information about a building. According to Feng Shui, a building has Nine Palaces or Sectors which makes up the total living space of the residents. These sectors are further accorded its individual locations and directions based on the Chinese Compass. Apart from the center, the other sectors of the building are north, south, east, west, northeast, southwest, northwest and southeast.

A land where a building sits on should ideally be square in shape so that there are nine equal sectors in the interior living space of the building. The problem arises when a land is not evenly shaped such as a triangle or other odd formations. This will give rise to partial or missing sectors in the interior living space. Any partial or missing sectors are inauspicious as it negates the elemental affinity between the sectors affected and the residents concern. This is because each sector of a building has an intrinsic Gua that is associated with a resident based on his or her year of birth. The Ba Gua or Eight Trigrams are Qian, Kun, Zhen, Xun, Kan, Li, Gen and Dui. These Eight Trigrams and their corresponding sectors in a building have elemental affinity with the residents in the form of energy or Qi. In Feng Shui, the life force or vital energy that gives life to all living things on earth comes from Qi. When a sector is partially or totaling missing in a building, the Qi is considered non-existent or very weak and the resident associated with the sector based on the trigram concern is thus affected negatively. He or she will not be able to tap into the positive or revitalizing energy of the missing Qi for luck and success.

For example, the following is one of the sectors, people and animal signs associated with the Eight Trigrams:-

-Sector - North
-Trigram - Kan
-People - Middle daughter
-Animal Sign - Rat

Each sector further governs a certain type of activity or occupation based on elemental affinity. When a sector is partially or totaling missing, the resident or the animal sign associated with it will face difficulty in his or her career pursuit related to the activity or occupation concern.

For example, the following is one of the sectors and the corresponding activity or occupation:-

Sector - North

Activity or Occupation - Logical thought, Intelligence, Research, Traveling

For example, a resident pursuing a legal career should not stay in a property with a missing east sector. A negative feature like a street lamp outside this sector can also erode the Qi therein and causes problem with expression.

In order to make sure that the sector that supports you are not missing or damaged by negative external features, you should inspect the building or property that you occupy and relate each sector to the type of work you do. This is one simple way of using Feng Shui to find out whether a building or a property is supporting or hampering your career.

My Granddad and Me - The Best Time I Ever Had

One of the best times I remember ever having was a trip taken with my father and grandfather to the Ft Worth cattle yards. We loaded a calf to take to the yards and little guy though I was, they allowed me to go along.

How exciting it was to be included, to be thought grown up enough and ready enough to go on such an adventure with the big men. An added bonus of the trip was that my grandad had promised to buy me a new pair of cowboy boots. Oh, I was so excited. I was ecstatic. In fact, more than the the trip itself, the boots today stand out as the most remembered symbol of that journey.

In those days, over back roads, with no interstate or four lane highways, the trip was longer than it is today. We departed home before daylight. That was also a novel experience for me to be awakened in the middle of the night and to get ready for what seemed to be a very long journey.

We took off. Somewhere along the way, we stopped at one of those roadside cafes that were usually found in small towns or just on the outskirts of one. Savoring the memory is almost as good as whatever we had for breakfast that early morning.

When we arrived at the huge Ft Worth stockyards, one of the teeming centers of agricultural and commercial activity back in the 40's, my eyes grew large. I was captivated by my surroundings, the sounds and sights, but not so much the smells. The real purpose for the trip was nearing. Soon they would unload the calf to be sold.

After that, it would be off to shop for my new cowboy boots. What an adventure, what an undertaking, what a thrill. We had lunch somewhere, don't really remember much about that. But it was over that lunch that the tenor of the day changed.

Dad told me that we wouldn't be getting those cowboy boots. Something had passed between Dad and Grandad that I was not quite able to fathom. I'm sure now that it had to with money. It may have been that the calf didn't bring as much as he had hoped. It may have been that dad knew my granddad's circumstances well enough that such an outlay was just not wise. Likely my Dad had suggested that the boots, as badly as he knew I wanted them, was an unnecessary extravagance. Grandad was, I think, just as disappointed as I was.

Today, all these years later, I think about the best time I ever had when I remember going to Ft. Worth. I also remember learning a hard lesson that day, a lesson that has never left me. The joy of the day was not in some anticipated gift of boots, but in being encouraged to grow up and to know that disappointment is a real as anticipation.

Creating Prosperity, Energy, Health and Fame As Well As Much, Much More Using Feng Shui - Part 2

If you do not have the time to conduct your own feng shui analysis and you would rather have a feng shui master do it for you that's fine. You need to find an expert and that in itself will be a very difficult task because you can't possibly be shown everything this person knows with just one consultation.

Let's talk about house shapes and how they may be regarded as lucky or unlucky. Irregular shaped homes can give rise to missing corners and that will definitely create problems of some sort. This all depends on what actual corner is missing. You will have to figure this out by dividing your home layout into nine grids and then identifying the compass direction that is missing. A great way to fix this problem is by wall mirrors or placing lights on the outside to use as an extension of the wall. The best fix would be to add an additional room.

Did you know that square shaped houses are certainly the best? This shape will give you the best when it comes to feng shui. The reason it works best is because this shape lends itself based on the compass. Square houses offer stable and firm foundation. Here is another thing you may have not known: Round shaped houses may mean money luck. There is a downside to this and that is that these houses or buildings may become too strong and it may actually overwhelm the residents. A bank would be a good example of a round structure.

Living at a dead end will only rot chi in that location and if there are ever problems, there will be no way out of them. The one way you can fix this problem, the one way you can fix living in a cul-de-sac would be to keep lights on behind the home during the night and have lights on at the gate because this will keep bad chi from coming into your home. Another thing to keep in mind is that you should make sure that your home isn't squished between two taller buildings because this will keep you from the good 'fortune' wind.

Now about the neighborhood you need to look for prosperity signs. If the gardens look good, the houses are well taken care of, and the streets are clean then you should be able to feel the air of prosperity!

The Religious Background of Unicorn Tapestries

The unicorn has been a mythical symbol since ancient times. Some of the earliest depictions of the unicorn are from ancient China and featured a creature resembling a large horse with a single horn protruding from its forehead. The writings and drawings of many ancient cultures throughout Asia and Europe included unicorns and eventually they evolved into religious symbols.

By the middle ages, the unicorn was considered both a religious and secular symbol by most of Christian Europe. The unicorn represented chastity, holiness, and purity, and was even used as a symbol for Christ. Because of the unicorn's important symbolism, it was often featured in tapestries and other art of the period. There are even references to unicorns in the bible, although some historians question their inclusion in the Bible because of translations issues. References to unicorns can be seen in Deuteronomy 33:17, Psalm 22:21, 29:6 and 92:10; Numbers 23:22 and 24:8; and Isaiah 34:7. These passages do not infer that the references to unicorns are fictitious or that unicorns are not in fact real animals.

There are many examples of medieval art and tapestries that feature unicorns and once they were accepted as a religious symbol they became very popular subjects. Unicorns represented purity and the myth perpetuated by their holy meaning was that only a virgin could tame a unicorn. Tapestries were common among the aristocracy in the Middle ages and were used as decoration as well as insulation for windows and openings. The most common tapestry designs were biblical allegories including unicorns. One of the most famous sets of tapestries are the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries, Created in France in the late 1400's.

The Lady and the Unicorn tapestries are perhaps the most famous examples of unicorns in art in the entire world. They were not discovered until late in the 1800's by Proper Merimee in a castle in Boussac France. They were damaged but were later restored and then put on display in the Cluny Museum in France in a room specially designed to house them. The novelist Georges Sands was responsible for making them so popular and included them in her writings.

It is not known who designed and wove the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries, but historians do know who they were created for. The coat of arms on the tapestries belongs to the Le Viste family and the tapestries were probably created for this family in the late 1400's. Like other tapestries and art depicting unicorns, the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries are said to represent the human senses with the subject of the tapestries a virginal maiden and a unicorn. Five of the six tapestries represent the five senses, hearing, tough, taste, feeling, and sight. The sixth tapestry is one that carries some debate as some say it represent love, other think it stands for the "6th sense" while other think it represents understanding or empathy. Unicorns have long been a part of art and folk lore, and are still symbols of holiness and purity today.

Life Lessons About Paying Rent

Who is Eckhart Tolle?

A truly enlightened spiritual teacher or just good writer and collector?

Even Oprah Winfrey is delighted about his books. She don't just read his books, but also advertise them loudly. A man from Germany has become a spiritual teacher for thousands of people all around the world. But what has he done so special? His books "The Power of Now" and "A New Earth" are best sellers. But if his books are selling so well, does it mean that indeed they bring men towards the light?

We can ask a question - why do his books are so popular? In this time, when human race observe the weaknesses and worthlessness of so popular values - money and power, people are seeking for something else. Different men for ages have been searching the answers on spiritual questions. And actually Eckhart Tolle does not write something new. As he admits, he has combined the best from different teachings. He is quoting such great teachers as Jesus, Mohamed, Buda and many others. And books of their teachings unfortunately stand in lower shelf.

But he really has done very significant thing. He writes in language, which is clear for people and which is audible in the noise of our days. People have become too lazy, they do not have enough free time, or just they do not have enough knowledge to understand the words of prophets. And Eckhart Tolle is like translator, who is doing his job well. But it is for people to decide, what they should adore - The Eckhart Tolle or knowledge and information he gives.

I definitely suggest You to read his two books - "The Power of Now" and "A New Earth", because they really putting together whole picture. But do not forget, that benefit comes from knowledge only then, when we use it in action. Knowledge without action is worthless. So, ACT!

Good Explanation of Old Testament Tithing

Achieving The Goals You Set

Physical and the Non-Physical Consciousness

The junction point between different states of consciousness; i.e. waking and sleeping is a good time to notice this experience.

As your mind and body start to settle down to rest. You become aware of the more subtle nature of the body, mind and aura. For me this experience is one of first scanning my body and my feelings and becoming aware of my deeper connection.

If I become aware of any discomfort in the body, I take my attention into that region and consciously breathe, relaxing the physical body and clearing the mind of any associated thoughts.

As you continue with this process, you may become aware of a third level of awareness; a field of energy that both surrounds and permeates the mind and the body. I say field, as it is a kind of electromagnetic field of energy, similar to magnetism.

This field of energy is the aura, the energy field of the body, it has consciousness too and you may notice your awareness passing from the physical body to the non-physical aura as you settle down to sleep.

Sometimes I experience this like clouds of white light washing over the body and passing through the body. As you take your awareness from your physical body and step over and become aware on your feelings as being within the clouds of white mist of the aura. You notice a freeing of your awareness an expansion and raising slightly of ones vibration.

The human body is such a wonderful thing as we can experience it on many levels and see the connections into may different aspects or dimensions of its nature.

As we become aware of this non-physical connection to our higher Self we may also become aware of its nature. We could invite in our guides and angels to come around us. We could take a few minutes just appreciating the work they do for us.

We could start to ask them for guidance or plan what we would like to do or experience tomorrow. This is a magical time, as we start to drift off into sleep, and if you witness your sleep, you may even have the experience of your spiritual awareness going out of body and astral travelling through the Universe.

This is all apart of your higher Self, the clouds of white light that you feel, is your spiritual connection into the non-physical world. This non-physical, although it is not localised like your body, is still as much apart of who you are as the physical nature of your body, in fact I would say is more your true nature.

So next time you are going to sleep, just in an innocent way, stay a little more aware of your feelings and experiences and consciously enjoy being aware of the many aspects of who and what you are.

Religion Poisons Everything

During the "Does God Exist?" debate between Frank Turek and Christopher Hitchens, Hitchens made much ado about how "religion poisons everything." That's the subtitle of one of his books, in fact. Turek countered in his closing statement by remarking, "religion doesn't poison everything...everything poisons religion."

At the time, I thought "woaaaa, good one!" It had a rhetorical punch to it.

On second thought, though, I can see that the statement's value is limited.

Of course Hitchens' statement goes too far, and Turek's notion of religion being poisoned from the outside brings some balance. However, some religions really are poisonous in and of themselves. Some religions really do teach hate and violence. I'm primarily thinking of Islam here. There is no doubt that some followers of Islam are peaceful people, but the Koran really does incite violence and backwardness. A study of the Koran or a cursory glance at a culture where Islam reigns will tell you that.

I know certain verses in the Koran prescribe peace, yet those verses tend to come from the time when Muhammad lacked military and political power. The surahs "revealed" when Muhammad had power tell a much different tale, however.

There are other examples. One doesn't need to stretch to see the poison of a religion that prescribes sacrificing children to Molech, for instance.

Some religions *are* poisoned from the outside. Take Christianity, for example. Jesus is sublime. His followers-not so much (not that I'm biased.. :) I do think that I've got good reasons to be biased, however!)

But others are poison themselves, and any followers who are peaceful and moral are such not because of their religion, but in spite of it.

Plus, similar to "curing" cancer with a medication that dulls the pain, all religions but one only cure the symptoms of the human problem, not the disease. Only Christianity, with Jesus the true doctor, cures our disease of sin. Therefore, all others are impostors and hence are not intrinsically good.

Marking 50 Years of Achebe's Things Fall Apart - Maintaining a Proud Presence in World Literature

50 years ago in 1958 a young Nigerian, Chinua Achebe, at the young age of 28, made major breakthrough for African Literature with the publication of his novel Things Fall Apart. This novel became widely read and recommended in schools and colleges all over the world. I could remember reading it for two years in succession 30 years ago when I was in secondary school in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and all of us in the class were as thrilled not only by the events but by the infectiously fresh idioms and imageries used to describe characters and scenes.

Up to now the imageries that lard the texture of the narrative still have place in the lexicon of my students. The most common included that comparing the speedy growth of Okonkwo's reputation and power: to "a bushfire in the harmattan" and that if a man should say yes his chi, his personal god, should also say yes, in accord with him. Unoka, Okonkwo's father, the "agbala" soon had his counterparts identified amongst us as much as were the fools and weaklings dubbed 'efulefus'. But Unoka was not seen as such a hateful character as his son was trying to make him, for he seemed like a lively fun-lover who had no problem with anyone, except of course his son who was ever burning with the hatred of a failed parentage and heritage as his father spent most of his time playing flute and drinking palmwine unmindful about tomorrow. I have had to read, teach, lecture, discuss, read and reread with new layers of meaning and interpretations unveiling themselves to me at each stage in that joyful cycle of engagement with it, with the text taking a permanent place in the imagination.

I am still trying to retrieve an essay I wrote whilst doing my masters on Achebe's unique style across his novels, then restricted to Things Fall Apart, No Longer at Ease, A Man of the People and Arrow of God. For Anthills of the Savannah had not yet been written. So when I read the preamble to Joyce Ashuntantang"s interview of the literary sage in "50 Years After "Things Fall Apart": A Chat with Chinua Achebe" it was as if she was a spokeperson for our experience which I expect might be one all across Africa, especially. She recalled many secondary school children who were not macho enough ending up with the nickname "agbala" which meant womanly, a derogatory reference to a man in Umuofia who had not taken any titles as was the case with Unoka. Another name she identified was "efulefu" meaning worthless person,

Many of the proverbs from the text have flown beyond Umuofia to Anglo-literate communities across Africa like ours in Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Ghana and Gambia. For example, "The lizard that jumped from the high Iroko tree to the ground said he would praise himself if no one else did"; "Eneke the bird says that since men have learned to shoot without missing I have learned to fly without perching"; "A child who washes his hands can dine with elders"; "An old woman is always uneasy when dry bones are mentioned in a proverb".

Chinua Achebe's fate was being sealed from 1948, when in preparation for independence, Nigeria's first university, now the University of Ibadan, opened, as an associate college of the University of London.

Achebe obtained such high marks in the college entrance examination that he was admitted in its first intake with a bursary to study medicine.

After a year of gruelling work, however, deciding that science was not made for him, he changed to English, history, and theology. But this switch cost him his scholarship. He now had to pay his tuition fees. Luckily, he received a government bursary, which helped him halfway together with money contributed by his family. His older brother, Augustine, gave up money for a trip home from his job as a civil servant to enable Chinua continue his studies. From its inception, the university had a strong English faculty which attracted the brightest intakes including those who like Achebe were to become famous writers like Wole Soyinka, Elechi Amadi, John Pepper Clark, Christopher Okigbo and, Kole Omotoso.

In 1950 Achebe made a further advance towards his literary goal when he wrote his first piece entitled,"Polar Undergraduate" for the University Herald even serving as its editor during the 1951-2 school year.Through irony and humour it celebrates the intellectual vigour of his classmates. He followed this with other essays and letters about philosophy and freedom in academia, some of which were published in another campus magazine, The Bug.

Achebe then wrote his first short story, "In a Village Church", which combines details of life in rural Nigeria with Christian institutions and icons, a style which was to be of much use in many of his later works. Other short stories he wrote during his time at Ibadan include "The Old Order in Conflict with the New" and "Dead Men's Path" which examine conflicts between tradition and modernity, with an eye toward promoting dialogue and understanding on both sides. Professor Geoffrey Parrinder's arrival at the university to teach comparative religion, set Achebe on exploring the fields of Christian history and African traditional religions.

He was now becoming critical of European literature about Africa.like Irish novelist Joyce Cary's Mister Johnson, about a cheerful Nigerian man who was working for an abusive British store owner for which Achebe and some of his classmates could not conceal their dislike . One of his classmates even went as far as announcing to the professor that the only enjoyable moment in the book is when Johnson is shot . In amother move to cultural nationalism, Achebe renounced his British name, Albert, replacing it with his indigenous name "Chinua."

At the end of his undergraduate studies in 1953 Achebe was so disappointrf at being awarded a second-class degree and not the first class that he had been expecting that he became uncertain as to how to proceed after that. So he returned to his hometown, Ogidi, to sort through his options. There, a friend from the university who visited him convinced him to apply for an English teaching position at the Merchants of Light school at Oba, a ramshackle institution with a crumbling infrastructure and a meagre library built on what the residents called "bad bush" or evil forest as a similar area in Things Fall Apart is called - a section of land thought to be tainted by unfriendly or evil spirits which was what was allocated to the Christian missionaries to build their church with the hope that they would not survive the evil spirits..

As a teacher, Achebe encouraged his students to be original in their work and read extensively. As the students did not have access to the newspapers he had read as a student, he made his own available in the classroom. But after four months here he grabbed an opportunity which arose in 1954 to work for the Nigerian Broadcasting Service (NBS), in Lagos, and left.

Achebe was assigned to the Talks Department, where he was responsible for preparing scripts for oral delivery, a task which helped him master the subtle nuances between written and spoken language, thus enabling him later to write realistic dialogue with ease. The city of Lagos, a huge conurbation teeming with recent migrants from the rural villages also made a significant impression on him, as it did on Ekwensi. Achebe revelled in the social and political activities around him later drawing upon such experiences when describing the city in No Longer At Ease.

While in Lagos, Achebe started work on a novel though quite a challenging task, since very little African fiction apart from Amos Tutuola's Palm-Wine Drinkard (1952) and Cyprian Ekwensi's People of the City (1954) had been written in English. While appreciating Ekwensi's work, Achebe worked hard to develop his own style, even as he pioneered the creation of the Nigerian novel itself. Queen Elizabeth II's visit to Nigeria in 1956 which brought issues of colonialism and politics further to the surface, was a significant moment for Achebe.

His first trip outside Nigeria also in 1956, when he was to undergo training in London at the Staff School run by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).was an opportunity for Achebe to advance his technical production skills, and to solicit feedback on his novel. In London he met a novelist, Gilbert Phelps, to whom he showed the manuscript. Phelps with great enthusiasm, asked Achebe if he could show it to his editor and publishers. Achebe declined, insisting that it needed more work.

On his return to Nigeria, Achebe started revising and editing it, now titled Things Fall Apart drawn from a line in the Irish poet, William Butler Yeats' poem "The Second Coming". He concentrated only on the story of a yam farmer, Okonkwo, adding sections, improving various chapters, and restructuring and tightening the prose.

By 1957 having sculpted it to his liking, he took advantage of an advertisement offering a typing service to send the only copy of his handwritten manuscript (along with the #22 fee) to the London company. He waited several months without receiving any communication from them, and began to worry.

So when his boss, Angela Beattie, was going to London on her annual leave he requested her to visit the company and act on his behalf which she did rather decisively, angrily demanding why it was lying ignored in the corner of the office. The company quickly sent a typed copy to Achebe. Beattie's intervention thus rescued and revived Achebe's spirit thus enabling him to continue as a writer. Had the novel been lost, he would have been so discouraged that he would probably have given up altogether.

In 1958 Achebe sent his novel to the agent earlier recommended by Gilbert Phelps in London. The agent upon receiving it sent it to several publishing houses. Some rejected it immediately, claiming that fiction from African writers had no market potential. Finally it reached the office of Heinemann. Executives there hesitated until an educational adviser, Donald MacRae, - just back from a trip through west Africa - read it and forced the company's hand with his succinct report: "This is the best novel I have read since the war"

In the book Okonkwo haunted by the failure of his father - a shiftless debtor fond of playing the flute and drinking palmwine - tortures himself not to resemble him in any way by working hard and not showing any feelings or compassion. It also evplores the complications and contradictions that arise within him and in the wider community when white missionaries arrive in his village of Umuofia. Exploring the cultural conflict, particularly after the first encounter between Igbo tradition and Christian doctrine and European administration that ensues, the novel shows the crumbling of the infexible and inhumane structures of Umuofia along with the equally infexible Okonkwo. Achebe thus retold the history of colonization from the point of view of the colonized, in reversal of previous images presented. For Achebe's emergence as "the founding father of African literature ... in the English language," is traceable to his reaction to Joyce Cary's novel Mister Johnson, set in Achebe's native Nigeria which he studied at the University College in Ibadan. In a curriculum full of Shakespeare, Coleridge, and Wordsworth, Mister Johnson stood out as one of the few books about Africa which Time magazine recently declared the "best book ever written about Africa," but Achebe and his classmates had quite a decidedly hostile reaction to. For they saw the Nigerian hero as an "embarrassing nitwit," as Achebe writes in , Home and Exile, and detected in the Irish author's descriptions of Nigerians "an undertow of uncharitableness ... a contagion of distaste, hatred, and mockery." Mister Johnson, Achebe writes, "open[ed] my eyes to the fact that my home was under attack and that my home was not merely a house or a town but, more importantly, an awakening story."

Home and Exile, which describes this transition to a new era in literature is then both a kind of autobiography and a rumination on the power stories have to create a sense of dispossession or to confer strength, depending on who is wielding the pen. Achebe depicts his gradual realization that Mister Johnson was just one in a long line of books written by Westerners that presented Africans to the world in a way that Africans didn't agree with or recognize, and he examines the "process of 're-storying' peoples who had been knocked silent by all kinds of dispossession." He hopes -- that this "re-storying" will continue and will eventually result in a "balance of stories among the world's peoples."

Things Fall Apart marked a turning point for African authors, who began to take back the narrative of the so-called "dark continent."

The style of Achebe's fiction draws heavily on the oral tradition of the Igbo. He weaves folk tales into the fabric of his stories, thus illuminating community values in both the content and the form of the storytelling. The tale about the Earth and Sky , for example, emphasises the interdependence of the masculine and the feminine. Although Nwoye enjoys hearing his mother tell the tale, Okonkwo's dislike for it is evidence of his imbalance. Later, Nwoye avoids beatings from his father by pretending to dislike such "women's stories".

Achebe' s free but deft use of proverbs, which often illustrate the values of the rural Igbo tradition. sprinkled throughout the narratives, repeating points made in conversation is deft. For Achebe, however, proverbs and folk stories are not the sum total of the oral Igbo tradition. In combining philosophical thought and public performance into the use of oratory - "speech artistry" -, his characters exhibit what he called "a matter of individual excellence ... part of Igbo culture." as Okonkwo's friend Obierika voices the most impassioned oratory, crystallising the events and their significance for the village.

Ceremonial dancing and the singing of folk songs also reflect the realities of Igbo tradition. The elderly Uchendu, attempting to shake Okonkwo out of his self-pity, refers to a song sung after the death of a woman: "For whom is it well, for whom is it well? There is no one for whom it is well." This song contrasts with the "gay and rollicking tunes of evangelism" sung later by the white missionaries.

Okonkwo's tragedy perhaps could be seen as emanating from his furious manhood overpowering everything feminine in his life, including his own conscience. For example, when he feels awful after killing his adopted son, he asks himself: "When did you become a shivering old woman?" All things feminine are distasteful to him, in part because they remind him of his father's laziness and cowardice. The women in the novel, meanwhile, are obedient, quiet, and absent from positions of authority - despite the fact that Igbo women were traditionally involved in village leadership. Nevertheless, the need for feminine balance is highlighted by Ani, the earth goddess, and the extended discussion of "Nneka" ("Mother is supreme") in chapter fourteen. Okonkwo's defeat is seen by some as a consequence of his suppression of a balancing feminine ethos.

Heinemann published 2,000 hardcover copies of Things Fall Apart on 17 June 1958. According to Alan Hill, employed by the publisher at the time, the company did not "touch a word of it" in preparation for release. The book received such a rousing reception that merits a whole book or at least an article to detail.Mean while as we celebrate 50 years of Things Fall Apart the book keeps moving into new corners of the globe while holding and tickling the imagination of those of us who have grown and fed on it for decades.

The God of War Or Peace - Helping With Bible Problems

Here's two verses I found in the Bible that seem to contradict themselves but I'm sure that with a little creativity and manipulation, a good minister or religious scholar, could make some sense out of it.

Exodus 15:3 (New International Version) The LORD is a warrior; the LORD is his name.

Romans 15:33 (New International Version) The God of peace be with you all. Amen.

The Lord is a warrior does not mean that he fights or kills, does it. According to the Old Testament, God killed plenty of people and even took out an entire city one time, flooded the earth to get rid of the evil and of course who could forget, that once we get into the New Testament, God killed his only begotten son Jesus. I don't know if I would really want this guy as my father.

It seems like he has a pretty bad temper on him but is extremely loving, caring and understanding. Are you confused yet, I am. Maybe I shouldn't be throwing the word I am around.

The God of peace states that he is a loving and understanding leader. This makes more sense to me because he did create the earth and everything around it. If I was for example, building a home to create a nice peaceful place to live, I wouldn't be thinking about destroing what I created. I would be thinking more along the lines of how I could take care of this creation.

It makes more sense to me that God would be peaceful but sometimes in order to have peace, we need to be a warrior. If God would have created us to be more compassionate, gave us plenty of food to eat, plenty of homes to live in, removed our sinful nature and of course who could forget, give us a purpose in life that is clearly understandable, I wouldn't see a need for warriors.

Maybe the God of peace is different than the Lord is a warrior. Thinking is a good thing, put your thinking caps on and start reading some of the Bible with an open mind.

AC System Replacement - The Efficiency Consideration - Should I Repair it or Replace It

In my recent article entitled "Air Conditioning System Replacement - The Age Consideration" we recently discovered how the age of your home cooling system can be a determining factor in the decision to replace your current Air Conditioner or Heat Pump System. Now let's see how the upgrade of efficiency plays into the equation of a new Cooling system replacement.

Efficiency is the leading reason that most families replace their existing Air Conditioning systems. Let's face it, if something didn't improve, be it money savings on utility bills or comfort, no one would change out their working units. Cost savings are a serious trigger for homeowners these days and a new Air Conditioning System can prove to be an investment that pays off in a big way.

Let's take a look. As the age issue points out, an Air Conditioning System that is approaching 15 years of age, will probably only be rated at 8 or 10 SEER. SEER is the efficiency measurement and standard that all U.S. Air Conditioning Systems are given for their operating cost efficiency. SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. Currently, the minimum SEER that is available in the U. S. is 13 SEER, and some systems are rated as high as 21 SEER.

So what does this mean to you the homeowner? Well, let's say you currently have an 8 SEER Air Conditioner and you decide to upgrade to a 13 SEER (current minimum standard). Each numeric rise in SEER rating equates to approximately an 8% increase in efficiency. That being the case, a 40% efficiency gain is possible (13-8=58=40). This means that if your average monthly summer cooling bill is $200, you could save up to $80 per month on our utility bill or nearly $1000 per year.

A savings of $1000 per year is huge. Now how does this play into the decision to replace your current air conditioning or heat pump system? Simply do the math. Over the course of the first five years, the saving alone will more then pay for the cost of a new system. What are you waiting for?

Is Nuclear Power Safe? You Decide

Nuclear power is an alternative to using fossil fuels and it is something that many countries are researching. You will find that nuclear power plants are spread through out most major countries and that the governments are actually trying to stop the spreading of these plants, simply because of the danger that bring in the cases of nuclear accidents. A nuclear accident could end up destroying a large area of the country and eventually the world.

However, you will find that the nuclear power is mostly safe for the general public, including the public that fears nuclear plants. You will want to learn the process of nuclear power so that you can raise awareness about all of the benefits of the power, but become known and familiar with the disadvantages of nuclear power. With this knowledge the community can take a stand against nuclear power.

Uranium is the start of nuclear power. Over 99% of the uranium that is found in the earth cannot be used to create nuclear power. However, with that 99% is some that could be used for your advantage. Nuclear power works in much of the same way that burning fossil fuels work.

Heat is created in a process known as fission, and this heat is used to create steam. You might find that the steam is expanded and that is what runs the turbine generator. Then the generator will produce electricity that will be delivered your homes across the country.

When uranium rods are placed into a reactor you will get fission. Neutrons are sent to smash into the uranium, and the nucleus of the uranium atoms split in half. This chemical reaction causes heat, which is picked up by carbon dioxide that has been pumped into the reactor.

This process is safer than most people think. When the reactor gets too hot or over heated, you will find that a fire is caused and then uranium is let into the environment. However, cooling rods, made of boron, can be used to quickly stop the nuclear reaction process.

If the reactor gets too hot, boron rods are lowered into it with a special crane, and the boron absorbs the neutrons. In the case of human error, a backup system is set into place in which boron rods are automatically lowered into the reactor.

Also, you should find that the reactor can become flooded with nitrogen and water when the reactor is over heated. This permanently damages the reactor, so it is a last resort, but it is an automated system that prevents disaster.

You should learn both the advantages and the disadvantages for nuclear power before you make a judgment on whether it is good for you or not. You will find that there is a lot of use, but there are lots of risks too. This form of energy needs to be pursued with caution.

How to Make a Simple, Low-Cost Solar Power Generation System?

As we all know that solar energy is an inexhaustible green energy, about 40 minute-solar energy exposing on the Earth is sufficient for the energy consumption of the world for one year. The application of the solar energy in the large-scale can not only solve the current energy crisis, but also can save our electricity expenditure. Anyway, do not think that the application of the solar energy is far away from our daily lives. At present, it is not difficult to find the solar energy-charged cell phone in mobile phone products. And there are also solar chargers, solar lamps, solar bus stops, etc in our daily lives. Other applications of the solar system such as solar water heaters, solar air-conditioning, and solar cook stoves and so on are also very frequently used.

The following is a simple, low-cost solar power generation system designed by us.

Materials: Several 6V or 12V single crystal silicon solar generating panels (10-50 blocks, according to the demand of the usage) Two 6V or 12V maintenance-free storage batteries One 220V inverter Above are all we need.

Step One: We need to divide the solar panels into two groups, if it is the 6V generating panels; we need to wire two panels in series to raise the voltage up to 12V, and others also need to be wired in series as the first two pieces, and then wire those groups of panels in parallel to increase the current power of the generation set. And then, install the fixed power generation panels to the metal plate, and install two sets of power generation groups to different positions (in order to absorb the sun light well. Because of low-cost, we can't make the sunlight-tracking system and it is a little difficult to make it).

Step Two: Connect the electrode leads of the power generation set to the positive and negative electrodes of the storage battery, so that the storage battery can continuously get the charging energy (in order to protect the battery, the overcharge or over-falling protection system can be added). Then wire two sets of storage batteries in parallel to increase the current of the battery.

Step Three: Next, we need to convert 12V DC to our appliances used 220V AC, which will require the inverter. Connect the battery power leads to 220V inverter.

Finally, after the conversion of the adequate sunlight, the power connected by the inverter can be used for domestic lighting equipment.

This system is very flexible, you can increase the solar panels and batteries to obtain more energy, so that your computer, televisions, refrigerators and even air conditioning can be carried out through the solar energy.

Tax Credits For Steel Roofing

Recently President Bush signed into law the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 which, among other economic incentives, extended the tax credit available for energy efficient home improvements. Home owners that are in the midst of planning to make improvements to their homes can do so in 2009 and receive tax credits for improvements that are deemed to make the home more energy efficient.

While the purpose of the bill was and will always be to lessen the blow of the recent economic downturn, one must look deeper to see the many advantages it provides to the common household through tax credits. Anyone who is planning to undertake home improvements should consult the details of the bill to see if the changes they are making qualify for tax credits.

One of the main focuses of the home improvement tax credit portion of the bill was to encourage people to change their roofing material from heat-absorbing, energy-wasting shake and shingle to a substance that reflects heat and reduces energy consumption, such as a reflective metal roof.

The advantage of a change to metal roofing is that it reduces the home's consumption of energy by requiring less energy to cool the home in the summer, as the steel roof reflects heat instead of absorbing it. A second advantage comes with the fact that since the heat is immediately reflected back into the atmosphere it reduces the occurrence of smog and urban hot zones in populated areas.

Those who need to replace their roofs in the next few years should consider upgrading to a steel roof in 2009 to take advantage of the tax credit before it expires. Homeowners who add a metal roof that is ENERGY STAR qualified can get 10% of the cost refunded, up to $500. That's a pretty significant savings.

To qualify for the tax credit the steel roof must be put into service between Jan 1 - Dec 31 2009, a manufacturer's certification statement is required, along with IRS Form 5695. According to the bill the roof qualifies if it is: "...any steel roof...installed on a dwelling unit, but only if such roof has appropriate pigmented coatings or cooling granules which are specifically and primarily designed to reduce the heat gain of such dwelling unit". So essentially you are looking for a coated steel roof which meets the ENERGY STAR program requirements.

Check with your Absolute Steel representative to see which of our metal roofing materials qualify and save some money!

While some may not consider 2009 to be the best year for major expenditures on a home, if your home is in need of a roof soon regardless you should think about upgrading your roof in the next year to take advantage of the tax credit savings. Not only will you save money on the roof itself, but every year your metal roof will give you back up to 40% in energy savings due to reduced cooling costs. You should also keep in mind that when you spend money on your house you are also helping to stimulate a lagging economy, and every little bit helps.

Battery Reconditioning Using EDTA

Renewable Energy systems such as solar or wind have a few drawbacks and that comes in the form of storage of the energy for use when the wind isn't blowing, and you have some cloudy days in a row where solar energy output will be minimal.

When you are not generating energy you either use it from your grid-tied system, or you potentially have a battery bank of batteries that you charge for these times. Deep cycle batteries are not cheap at all and some of the batteries that are created solely for the use of renewable energy can cost of upwards of $250 per battery!

So what can you do about this? Well there are a couple of things that you can do, especially if you make the right people contacts in just about any town you live in. This is where opportunity lies for getting some nice batteries on the cheap.

Deep Cycle batteries are used in marine, vehicle, RV's, Off-road ATV's, Golf Carts, ForkLifts, and just about any application. One of the largest manufacturer of these batteries is a company named Trojan Battery company and the batteries they have are great for renewable energy sources. They even happen to have a ine dedicated specifically for RE uses.

So.... Instead of buying a large bank of these batteries at $250 a pop you should hunt around local golf cart maintenance shops, forklift repair shops, and more for finding these deep-cycle gems. :)

Most of the time the batteries themselves are not in horrible condition beyond repair, some easy work they can be fixed up to practically new without much cost at all. One simple method of repair is for using EDTA in the electrolytic fluid in each cell that doesn't pass the test of a standard electrolytic hydrometer. Although some battery types are sealed most are recoverable with this technique. EDTA stands for ethylene diamine tetra acetic, and can be purchased on the internet rather easily. If you see people selling you "special" battery reconditioning mixtures this is what the main ingredient is.

You can also visit energyprojects.info for more information about battery reconditioning methods and see them in action. You can save yourself lots of money on your solar pv or wind turbine system by using this method. If you already know how repair battery cells then you probably have all of the information that you need.

Metal Roofs Save You Money

Are you replacing your roof or building a home and trying to figure out what kind of roof is best? While wood shingles and tile roofs are popular, metal roofs are growing in popularity. There are many benefits of metal roofing and here is a quick overview of this type of roofing material.

Metal roofs are more durable than asphalt shingles and other types of roofing. These types of roofs are able to withstand heavy rains and snow and gale force winds. They are also fire resistant which is especially good if you live in dry climates that are prone to fires. Metal roofs are also good for keeping the heat out of your house by reflecting the sun so it will stay cooler in the summer. This means a significant savings on your energy bill.

Metal roofs are more durable than other types of materials and therefore will last longer. They have an interlocking system which attaches to all four sides of the shingle instead of only two with other types of shingles. Because of this they will stay in place, last longer and stay resistant to the elements.

Many think of old corrugated metal when they think of metal roofing but that is far from the case. There are actually more styles and colors than tile, wood and tar. The metal is painted with a polymer surface so it can take multiple shapes, textures and styles which add to your choices and the uniqueness of your home.

These roofs are not purely metal. They are layered with other types of materials to make them more resistant and durable. Metal shingles are layered and coated with metallic composites and polymer to prevent corrosion. Polymer helps to keep it looking new since it is slow to fade and lose its brilliance.

Installing a metal roof will not only give you these benefits but it will also increase the value of your home. The energy savings will be a big selling point as will its durability. Metal roofs will last 40 or more years with very little maintenance. Most of these roofs come with a warranty that will last this long so it's guaranteed.

Metal roofs are easy to install compared to other types of roofs so you won't have to wait more than a few days to have a roof over your head. Roofing is not a do-it-yourself project you can do with a table saw so make sure you have a professional install it.

Once you've decided that a metal roof is right for you, consult a few different roofing companies to find the one that will offer the best service and guarantee on their work. After it's installed you'll notice a big difference aesthetically as well as with your energy bills.

Being specifically interested in rockwell, Ken Morris has been publishing several newsletters in this particular area. You can see his articles on rockwel tools and rockwell table saw over at http://www.insidewoodworking.com

LED Lighting - It's Quick Rise and What You Should Know

Almost everyone today knows what an LED light is in the most general sense, but few are aware of how fast it is set to become the main source of general lighting in both homes and businesses.Everyone from the Department of Energy to environmental advocates are pushing the pace of LED general lighting development because of the dramatic savings in energy associated with their use, and the fact that LEDs use no environmentally harmful substances like some older energy-saving bulbs (i.e. compact fluorescents which contain mercury).

Although light emitting diodes have been around since the 1960's, their use up until several years ago was confined to such things as indicator lights in electronic devices, traffic signals and instrument panels. It wasn't until the invention of the white LED (in the late 1990's) that people began to take a closer look at their ability to replace incandescent lighting in homes or businesses.Being a technology that uses a semiconductor to produce light means that the output and efficiency of LED lights is improving at a rapid pace; today's LED replacements can achieve a life span of 50,000 hours while consuming 80% less energy than a standard incandescent bulb.LEDs that produce a warm white light were invented by accident in 2005 but will allow a person to replace their incandescent bulbs with a similar color light to what they're used to. An additional benefit of LED lighting is that only a very small amount of UV or IR radiation is emitted, making it highly useful for locations where valuable art is hung on the wall or fading may be an issue.

The current market is full of LED replacement bulbs and lighting solutions, but it is also buyer beware. There is a lot of junk on the market today that if bought and tried will surely disappoint you.Well made LED replacement bulbs are still pricey and the cheap products on the market today, a lot of them being sold through big box stores, will not last nor produce or sustain a bright enough light. On a side note, LED bulbs (LEDs don't really need to be a bulb!) don't usually "burn out," instead their usable life is measured by a certain percentage decrease in brightness. The Department of Energy is using considerable resources to promote LED lighting (also called SSL, or Solid State Lighting) and just recently announced the Energy Star specifications for residential LED usage. That means in the near future you will have some assurance as a buyer that the product you are purchasing really will live up to your expectations.

In the meantime, it is important to buy your LED lighting from a trustworthy source with good customer service in case of any problems you might experience with this new technology.Companies that have established their credibility by working closely with, and traveling to, the factories making the LED lighting they carry are a good place to start your shopping.Look for the offer of a money-back guarantee if you are unsure of what you are buying and how it's going to work. Now is the time to start using LED lighting, but be sure to shop wisely and you will save yourself both time and money in the long run.

Sean is an employee at Polar-Ray, a Boulder, CO web-based business specializing in LED lighting solutions for residential and commercial customers.

Simple Energy Saving Tips - Save Serious $ on Your Energy Bills

With the rough economic climate we are all looking to save some money in various places. Usually the energy bills on your home is actually a great place to start, and also a place where savings happen quickly and the savings are monthly.

Here are some energy conservation tips to save some serious $ on your energy bills.

Lighting in your home

For lighting in your home if you haven't already picked up some compact, or energy efficient saving light bulbs you should do so immediately. Most importantly for those high traffic areas of use in your home. these bulbs last much longer than standard light bulbs, they are more energy efficient, and they are less prone to failure from power surges. So where can you find these bulbs? Practically anywhere including your local walmart store. Yes they are a bit more expensive than the cheap packs of 4 for $1, but they are worth the savings.

Appliances

When it comes to your appliances there are many different things that you can do. First and foremost you can check to make sure that the appliances have energy star ratings on them. This means that the device adheres to the standards set forth by the EPA and the department of energy.

For entertainment centers make sure that you have a power strip so that you can easily turn power off to the unit when it is not needed. For appliances such as refrigerators, make sure that your thermostat on your freezer isn't set to the subzero temperatures of the polar ice cap! For diswashers don't run the dry dish cycle and use the heat to dry your dishes, instead let them air-dry. For washing dishes and clothes as well make sure that you are only doing full loads to get the most benefit from each load.

Heating and Cooling

On your hot water heater set your thermostat to 120 degrees as this will help as well. On your home heating and cooling bills make sure that you are comfortable, but don't over use your unit. In the winter instead of cranking up the heater a few degrees, open your blinds in your house on the windows that get the most sun, and go put on a long sleeve shirt instead. In the summer shed some clothes, try to keep direct sunlight out and wear a t-shirt and shorts around the house instead.

Home Solar Power - How to Generate Electricity at Home

A home solar option is supposed to be the most feasible option for ordinary households. The main reason why home solar is being preferred by ordinary individuals is because it saves both time as well as money. Home solar options are easy to install and easier to execute. Listed below are a few steps which can help you in generating electricity from home.

Purchase A Well Known Program

Even before you start to dream of saving large amounts of cash through solar powered electric supply, you need to research the internet and find a suitable kit which can aid you in your dream. Once you have a kit ready, the next step is to ensure that you have it installed either through a technician or by reading through the manual book and doing it yourself.

Look For A Suitable Installation Place

If you wish to benefit through the means of the sun's natural energy, you would be required to find a suitable place in order to install your solar panel. While the roof of your house is supposedly the best available option, you may seek an alternative according to your personal choice.

Put It In Practice

Another way to benefit through the means of solar energy is by making sure that you give yourself some time. From time, I mean, you need to allow the solar power to generate on its own. Soon, you would be making enough electrical power to run a couple of houses and not just one-and that too at no extra charge.

Zero Carbon Rated Houses Exempt From Stamp Duty

On 7th December 2007 the government gave Zero-Carbon rated eco houses below 500,000 exemption from Stamp Duty Land Tax. This relief is available on new houses and will continue until 30th September 2012. With households in this country on the increase by 223,000 per year (according to government statistics) and an increasing awareness of 'green living' amongst the public many property developers have put this firmly on their business plans. We spoke to leading builders of new homes in Cornwall, Percy Williams & Sons who specialize in green building design in the UK and have a unique development: Fairglen in Hayle.

Simon Williams from Percy Williams & Sons explained that the 'Government declaration that Zero Carbon-rated houses were to be exempt from Stamp Duty Land Tax was at first a psychological shot in the arm to us over this project of eco houses, but a close study of the strict definition of Zero Carbon and how we might clear this hurdle ended in disappointment'

A Zero-Carbon Home needs to have energy efficiency in three areas, including heat loss, dwelling CO2 emission rate and net CO2 emissions. If they meet the requirements an accredited assessor will inspect the dwelling and issue a certificate.

To receive the actual 'Holy Grail' of Zero Carbon is difficult at the best of times, as it requires a building to have a net production of carbon into the atmosphere of zero. At Fairglen in Hayle the houses are almost uniquely efficient for this sort of development, but in addition would need a wind-turbine to achieve the last bit of balancing electrical generation. Because of the sheltered valley location that the site is in the turbine could not have been efficiently done.

With the help of John Peapell Sustainable Solutions, a specialist consultant in this area, Percy Williams & Sons were prepared to pay for a turbine on an existing site elsewhere and then pass the ownership of this to the residents' management company. It would be just as economically feasible in that the savings in Stamp Duty Land Tax could be spent on this, and the house owners would continue to benefit into the future from income from the turbine and green offset credits. Overall an economically and environmentally sound solution.

Unfortunately on examination of the detail of the legislation Percy Williams & Sons found it stipulated that the generation had to be 'hard-wired' to the development, not just owned by it.

'I did rather feel that the goalposts were not where one might expect them to be on this one; hardly any houses will achieve this at the moment without huge arrays of photo-voltaic panels or on-site wind turbines which of course restricts their locations to windier and less energy efficient sites. So it is quite safe for the Treasury to offer it' said Simon Williams.

Percy Williams and Sons are continuing to develop state of art designed and environmentally friendly houses as this is where their passion lies, maybe the government will reward the public who choose to live in these house and the developers one day?

Save Money & Be Energy Conscious - Use a Hybrid Heating System For Your Home

Hybrid Heating Systems are a Growing Trend

The use of "Hybrid" Heating Systems is becoming a very common practice. With fuel prices acting like a ride at the county fair, (out of control and unpredictable) the installations of Hybrid, or Duel-Fuel Home Comfort Systems has increased dramatically. The Duel Fuel application allow you, the homeowner to have more control over your heating expenses by only using the most economical fuel choice when needed.

Home Comfort for the Energy-Conscious

For colder climates, a hybrid heating system, including a gas furnace, heat pump and coil, offers the flexibility of multiple fuel sources to establish and maintain a comfortable indoor environment with optimal energy efficiency.

What is Hybrid Heating?

Hybrid heating systems consist of an electric heat pump and a gas furnace that alternately work to maintain desired indoor temperature and humidity levels year-round. When moderate heating is required, the system selects the heat pump as the most energy-efficient source of heat. On colder days, the system automatically switches to the gas furnace for more economical heating efficiency. Normal heat pump systems utilize electric resistance back-up heat strips that are very expensive to operate. By having the gas furnace in place of this electric heat, efficiency rises dramatically. During warm weather, the heat pump reverses its cycle and functions as a central air conditioner.

Reduce Energy Use and Save Money

A hybrid heating system provides:

Enhanced year-round comfort due to more uniform indoor temperatures and humidity levels

A choice of two fuel sources, which means greater operational efficiency

The flexibility to respond to fluctuating energy prices by using the most economical fuel source (this can translate into lower utility bills when thermostats are set correctly)

Compared to a traditional furnace alone, a hybrid heating system may cost more initially. The reason for this is that heat pumps are normally slightly higher in initial cost then straight air conditioning, and the use of a high efficiency gas furnace in place of a standard air handler will also increase the price as well. And, because its greater operational efficiency translates into reduced energy use, the money saved each year on fuel costs can quickly make up for the extra initial investment.

Be Eco-Conscious

By installing a hybrid heating system, be sure to ask what type of refrigerant the heat pump uses. Opting for a heat pump with environmentally friendly R410A refrigerant is a great way to "Go Green" This chlorine-free refrigerant is better for the environment and transfers heat more efficiently. You ultimately will be saving money on your utility bill, while being environmentally conscience. What a great "two for one."

Alternative Energy Production

Would you like to learn more about alternative energy production and how you can produce free electricity to run your house? We are currently using fossil fuel sources like coal to provide for our home's energy needs. Unfortunately, these fossil fuels are limited and the Earth will soon run out of them if we do not find alternatives soon.

1. Why We Need to Start Considering Alternative Energy Production Seriously Now

It is estimated that the remaining amounts of coal in America can still last for 200 more years or so. We need to start researching alternatives and consider what will happen to our future generations if we continue to be ignorant about this problem.

As the demand for resources like coal, oil and natural gas are increasing every day due to the growth in China and India, it is possible that these resources may run out much faster than we expect. The best way to solve this problem is through alternative energy production solutions.

2. Alternative Energy Production

More countries are investing more money to researching alternative energy solutions. In fact, some households are already able to build their own homemade systems to generate free electricity on a small scale to run their own house. This is entirely possible as I have succeeded in doing so as well and am enjoying the benefits of creating free electric power. These alternative power sources are very clean and will never run out.

3. Which Are the Best Alternative Energy Solutions for Running a Home?

The 2 best methods would be to build solar panels to harness the sunlight energy and also by building wind turbines that can harness free wind power.
